Today we wentover the test review packet in class. The unit test is onThursday. Please study your powerpoint notes and worksheets form this unit. Good Luck and enjoy your day off.

Today we started to review for the unit test. Please complete the review packet by tomorrow. We will go over all the asnwers in class. Make sure you complete the graphic organizer (3rd page) on a seperate sheet of paper.

Today we watched a Bill Nye movie on asexual and sexual reproduction. After that you were given a list of words to use in creating a timeline on reproduction.  I know you got started in class, and I want you to finish this time line over the weekend as I will collect it on Monday the 30th.

Monday you will begin the unit review packet in class and complete it as homework.
The unit test is Thursday February 2nd (Ground Hog Day!) It will include asesual and sexual reproduction.  Basically everything we have done since we came back from break.

Today you were able to get most of your work done in class. You outlined 10.2 on mitosis and most everyone turned it in and did a nice job.
After that you worked on the IR for section 10.2 and 10.3 in the textbook.
What ever you did not finish is homework.
Remember that on Tuesday the 24th we have our quiz on asexual reproduction. Use your pwoer point notes to help you review.

Today we watched a movie that explained and showed the process of Mitosis.
Remember:
- mitosis occurs in somatic cells (body cells)
- it begins with a diploid cell and you end up with 2 diploid daughter cells (preserves chromosome nmber).
- mitosis is for growth and repair
- multicellular organisms all do mitosis (plants and animals)

Read the handout I gave you on Binary Fission and complete the 5 questions.
Tomorrow we will  look at the cell cycle and mitosis in more detail. Oh Boy!

Today we reviewed asexual reproductin in class by doing some worksheets.  If you did not finish the Bio to Go and all the vocabulary definitions in class, do so tonight. 
Be able to compare and contrast the different types of asexual reproduction.
Remember Chapter 10 is the resource for this material. There are 3 sections you can read to better understand what we have learned, as well as what we will be learning over the next week.

Asexual reproduction involves one parent and the offspring is identical to the parent.(no genetic variation)

Today we went over the IR that you did for homework. Sexual reporduction from the gamete level was introduced. Next week we will begin Asexual reproduction. Please make sure that you review all your work each day. There is SO much to remember this unit.

Homework:Complete the IR on Cell reproduction that you got at the end of class today.

Most of you did really well on the Q2 re-take today and improved your overall grade for the 2nd quarter!
We are now starting our unit on Asexual and Sexual reproduction.  The third quarter is our toughest quarter. Be prepared to study every night and please complete all your assignments on time.
Homework:Complete the IR reader that you started in class today.

2nd quarter re-take test is tomorrow. Please know the test you are replacing when coming to class. The grade sheets have been posted for several days and you can check your grades on line.  The re-take is cummulative for the 2nd quarter. Since we have been studying for the Mid Term, this will really help you in preparation for the retake tomorrow.
I hope you did well on the Mid Term today. Remember this is a 5th quarter grade.

Benchmark exam is tomorrow. Please review tonight. Make-ups are Wednesday A lunch.

Tonight you should review the graphic organziers we filled in together during class. This will be a great way to start reviewing material for the mid term next Tuesday January 10th.  Look back over your notes and worksheets that you have. Every topic we have learned thus far will be assessed.
