Remember- Benedicts solution indicates a monosaccarhide when heated because it turns orange (ex. glucose). Di and poly saccharides will not react.
Iodine indicates a polysacchahide and it turns black when added to a polysaccharide (ex. starch).
Disaccharides do not react with either solution (ex. sucrose).

Read over your power point notes from today on carbohydrates and Lipids.
HW: complete the "Big Picture Carbohydrates" worksheet

Tomorrow I will be presenting a demo lab on how to identify carbohydrates.

Biomolecules

Continue to review the notes/worksheets form class each day. There is so much to remember about biomolecules!
Homework: read pg 59-63 in your textbook. Complete pg. 63 1-5. you MUST restate the question in your answer to get full credit.

Quiz- Monday October 4th

Finish Packet on biomolecules titled carbon compounds. We will be learning about these biomolecules fro the next several days.

Please finish the worksheets on the introduction to biomolecules. Now that we have learned all about water, we are moving on to the other very important biomolecules...carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids and lipds.  The fun is just beginning!

Complete the worksheets from class today.  I will collect them tomorrow. Quiz tomorrow.

Study your power point notes on water for the quiz Friday. Review the properties of water and pH.
We will finish the lab after the quiz on Friday.

Complete the worksheet you were given in class titled water and solutions.  Continue to study the properties of water and how it relates to homeostasis.  Also, review the pH scale.

It looks like most of you did a great job on the scientific method test. Well done! We have finally moved on to biology topics as of today. We began propeties of water.  Remember to read over you power point notes from today. This will help you remember the important facts that you MUST know.

Today you were given time in class with your lab group to complete the lab papers that your group will be handing in.  This should include the sedign an experiment sheet, how you collected data (include it), and the procedure.  Staple these three together and make sure your name and all of your lab member's names on on the packet.
Homework: Complete the BCR on the double blind study tonight.
